Sample Itinerary
The are two ways to get to Shandur, one is through Chitral and the other is through Gilgit. This itinerary is just a sample to assist with planning. Your actual plan will vary based on the timing of the event and the time you intent spend in Pakistan. This is very compressed schedule, but if you can afford to spend more time, I would at least double it.
Itinerary 1 - Starting from Chitral
Day 1
Fly to Islamabad/Peshawar.
Day 2
Fly to Chitral
(weather permitting)

There are daily two flights to from Peshewar and one from Islamabad. Check with PIA (http://www.piac.com.pk/) to ensure flights are scheduled for next day after your arrival.
Drive by road to Chitral is also possible, but not recommended due to conditions of the roads.
Day 3

Day 4
While in Chitral, consider visiting:
- Kalash Valley
- Birmoghlasht (If you plan staying longer definitely visit Chitral Gol, one of Pakistan's National Parks).
- Garam Chasma/Lot Koh is another beautiful location.
Day 5
Leave for Shandur but may consider a stay at Mastuj.
Day 6
Shandur pass (Consider arriving no later the July 7th, 6th recommended, as the Festival usually starts on July 7th). Confirm the dates before departure.
Day 7 Day 8 Day 9
Shandur Festival Generally Takes place July 7 - July 9.
During the day Polo matches takes place and at night local music and dances.
The matches are as follows:
On the first day: Chitral C vs Gilgit C match.
On the second day: Chitral B vs Gilgit B match.
On the final day: Chitral A vs Gilgit A match. (The game on the final day is considered the final but it is not a knockout tournament)
Day 10
Visit Pander, a very scenic area with green meadow and clear crystal stream,good spot for trout fishing.
Although you can visit after the polo games, but it is worth spending an additional day here.
Day 11

Day 12
Leave for Gilgit.
Morning drive to Gilgit, passing through the lush green valleys of punial, sherqila.
Consider Visiting:
- Kargha Buddha (7th century AD Buddha Roc
k carving at Kargha near Gilgit)
- Besham. Morning after break fast drive to Besham, through the Karakuram high way along the mighty Indus river and enjoy the magnificent views of Nanga Parbat, 8125 meters. Overnight hotel.
- Sher Qila
Day 13
Fly to Islamabad (weather permitting).
Road trip is also posible, passing through the scenic abbotbad and Mansehra valleys. enroute visit the archeological museum at Taxila. over night hotel.
Day 14
Depart Pakistan for your home country.
Itinerary 2 - Starting from Gilgit
Day 1
Fly to Islamabad.
Day 2
Fly to Gilgit (weather permitting).
